As most of you know because of your continued support through prayers my Dad has been dealing with some serious health issues. It all started about five years ago with an infection in his foot that sent him to the hospital. That was when he was told he was a diabetic and the infection was gangrene and he needed to have a partial amputation. Upon doing pre- surgery tests they discovered that he was more than 95% blocked in all five of his arteries and that he would have to have a five way bypass / open heart surgery. It seems the news could not get any worse or could it...

My Dad made it through the first surgery to bring blood flow to the leg and foot before the open heart surgery, then he had the open heart surgery, then the amputation surgery. My Dad has spent the last three years getting back on his feet and things were looking good for him but this year he had to under go several other surgeries and then was handed the news that his prostate number were VERY high and he needed a biopsy ASAP. The news was not good, CANCER! We were scared but hopeful because it is a cancer with a very good cure rate but further testing gave us the news we did not want to hear. The cancer has spread to the bone and there is no cure.

What a helpless feeling! My big, strong , super hero Dad had cancer and we can not fix him. I just hate this feeling of helplessness and I feel like I have to try to do something! So I am going to run! Not run away but RUN ON LOVE! I decided to take this terrible disease and try to do something about it! I decided to enter a marathon and raise money and awareness in hopes that they will find a cure for this terrible disease. I don't think there is person alive that has not been touched directly or indirectly by cancer and or heart disease so I have decided to run for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association in hopes of helping others.
