On October 25th, 2009, I will be running (and I use that term loosely) in the first annual MCM 10K in Washington, DC as a member of the No Greater Sacrifice Endurance team. If you are unfamiliar with No Greater Sacrifice (NGS; www.nogreatersacrifice.org), it is a 100% volunteer-driven nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise funds to pay for the education of children who have lost a parent in combat. Please re-read that last sentence… the 100% volunteer-driven nonprofit part. This is what makes them the only group I’ve endorsed - ever.

I was a very lucky girl growing up. I had great parents who managed to keep me and my siblings from inflicting permanent damage on each other, didn’t disown me during my teenage years (although I’m know they gave it serious consideration) and gave all of us the opportunity to attend wonderful universities, here and abroad. Yes, I freely admit I did a little brown nosing and attended their Alma Mater. I am hoping that together we can provide for the Jackson quad and give them the opportunity to attend college as well. Who knows, maybe they’ll end up at YOUR Alma Mater.
