| LHON is a rare genetic disorder that causes sudden blindness, generally around age 20. There is no treatment and no cure for LHON.
Because only about 100 people in the U.S. become blind each year due to LHON, funding for a cure is extremely limited so your donation makes a significant difference.
In 2009, Carlsbad's Jeremy Poincenot lost vision to LHON. He has been working to raise awareness of this rare disease through an appearance on MTV's True Life: I'm Losing My Sight and inspirational speeches such as TEDx-SDSU; learn more at www.JeremyPoincenot.com.
The LHON Project Fund supports research at the Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles. The goal is to find a cure for this devastating disease before others carrying the LHON genetic mutation become blind. |
