Operation Helping Hands - Katrina House Gutting Volunteers
Helping Rebuild New Orleans...

. : : Make a Contribution : : .

Total Donations: $73

Goal: $1,000

$0 7% $1,000
Goal

Operation Helping brings volunteers from across the country together to help elderly, disabled, or uninsured victims of Hurricane Katrina. The flooding in the aftermath of the hurricane severely damaged as many as 200,000 homes in the Greater New Orleans area, and cleaning/ gutting these homes is the first step in the road to rebuilding.

We have gutted an incredible number of homes, and need volunteer help in other ways as well. If you sign up to work with Operation Helping Hands, you might be doing variety of tasks to bring New Orleans back in your very own way.

These tasks may include:
- house gutting
- cleaning out apartments
- mold remediation
- yard work
As we begin to transition from house gutting to house rebuilding, we will need skilled/semi-skilled volunteers to aid us. If you have a background in building trades and demonstrated experience in the field, we could use your assistance for plumbing, sheetrocking and other duties. We will still need unskilled volunteers to help paint, clean up, do yard work and more.

Accomplishments to Date

* Nearly 1,700 residences have been gutted.
* About 8,000 volunteers have given more than 200,000 hours of service.
