Run for the Future
Help the Junior League of Greater Ft. Lauderdale raise funds via the 10th Annual Riverwalk Run presented by The Ritz-Carlton, Ft. Lauderdale! The 2010 Riverwalk Run will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 7:00am. The course begins in downtown Fort Lauderdale at Huizenga Plaza and brings participants on a journey along the New River and through the neighborhood of historic Rio Vista. This event includes something for everyone, even the kids. Runners choose to participate in the 5-mile run, 5K run, 5K fitness walk or enter the kids in the 1-mile or 1/2-mile Kid’s Fun Run and are invited to stay afterwards to take part in the famous post-race brunch..
This fundraiser also includes a Pre-Race Party to be held on Thursday, March 11th, 6:30 - 9:30 pm at Bimini Boatyard Bar & Grille. The evening will include food, drinks, a live band, a fantastic silent auction (hotel stays, golf foursomes, restaurant certificates, sporting tickets, etc.) and a raffle with a prize of a 7-day cruise on any NCL ship to any destination!

The event benefits the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale’s current projects:

• Broward County Foster Youth (The JLGFL created the FLITE Center to provide foster youth transitioning to independence a place to access a variety of resources including job skills training, educational and employment services and mentors.)
• Childhood Obesity (Kids in the Kitchen and Healthfully Ever After curriculum created by the JLGFL and presently featured in 2nd grade Broward County Public School Systems)
• Ronald McDonald House (JLGFL volunteers provide HOME COOKED meals for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House)
• And numerous Done-In-A-Day projects where our volunteers assist other Non-Profits in Broward County.

Founded in 1937, the JLGFL has created several of Broward County's top charitable organizations: Jack and Jill Children's Center (1942), Henderson Mental Health Center (1954), Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale (1958), Museum of Discovery and Science (1974), Kids in Distress (1978), SOS Children's Village (1988), OUR House (1993) and our latest legacy project FLITE (2006). Our volunteers have invested millions of dollars, matched by millions of volunteer hours to improving the lives of our Broward County community. We have trained thousands of women to address community needs and to take on leadership roles at every level.

The Mission of the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Inc.: The JLGFL is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
