The services of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. provide independence, mobility, and companionship for the blind, visually impaired, or otherwise disabled person through the use of guide and service dogs and innovative orientation technology. We breed, raise, and train our own puppies to become guide or service dogs, train and instruct persons on their use, and provide aftercare services to the new owner/dog team. All of our services are provided free of charge. Our primary focus is to build more partnerships between disabled persons and our guide and/or service dogs. What makes the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind’s program so vital for all persons with disabilities—including wounded veterans and persons afflicted with vision-stealing diseases such as glaucoma and diabetes—is that in less than thirty days of instruction, we can change someone’s life forever. Guide and service dogs help people with disabilities move about safely and confidently, enabling them to reclaim their independence.
