I’m running in the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon for Team Fisher House in order to help military families. Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $25,000. All proceeds go directly to the Fisher House!!!
This is the first time I have been this physical in over 12 years. Golds Gym (Woodstock, GA on SR 92 and Bells Ferry) along with Atlas Healthcare and Rehab (next door to Gold's Gym) has gotten behind me to help me out! Without people like this I wouldn't be prepared!
I'm also dedicating my marathon run to a Marine from Griffin GA who was KIA on September 1, 2010 in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. He was 20 years old.
His name is Lance Cpl Christopher Blake Rodgers, USMC
Together we can make a difference! God Bless!

The Fisher House™ Program
A new Fisher House will soon be under construction at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to provide “a home away from home” for the families of Veterans receiving medical treatment. The funds raised from the Team Fisher House at the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon Campaign will benefit its construction.
Veterans as well as active duty service members often travel from great distances to receive specialized care at a VA Medical Center for a disease, illness, or injury. Their families face tremendous financial and personal hardship when a loved one’s medical treatment takes them far from home for an extended period of time.
A hotel, when affordable, is a lonely and isolated place to deal with the grief and stress of a family member’s illness. If commercial lodging near the hospital is not available or affordable, the caregivers of a sick Veteran might sleep in hospital lobbies, waiting rooms, or in their cars in the hospital parking lot. On occasion, the patient might even choose not to receive care because of the expense associated with being far from home.
A Fisher House, offering over 7,300 free nights of lodging each year, will change that for veterans receiving care at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center. This house, which will allow families to be at the Veteran's bedside to help in the healing and recuperation process, is so important because “A Family’s Love is Good Medicine.”
Thank you for helping us build the Tennessee Fisher House - the Veterans and their families it serves will have a comforting and supportive “home away from home” because you cared.
The Heart of a Fisher House
“Some folks may pass by a Fisher House, look at the exterior and say, ‘They designed this house to be BEAUTIFUL.’
Some folks may have watched the year-long construction of a Fisher House and say, ‘They designed this house to be STRONG.’
But, if you only look at a Fisher House just from the outside, you would miss the fact that a Fisher House was designed to have a HEART. You see, every brick in a Fisher House represents the support and commitment that the American public has for our Veterans and military members.” - Jim Donahoe
Fisher House Foundation has received the highest possible ratings from the “watch dog” organizations that evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of nonprofit organizations: For every dollar donated to Fisher House™ Foundation, 96 percent goes directly towards Fisher House programs that help the families of active duty service members and Veterans.
Fisher House™ Foundation, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Donations are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law.

"I Love helping people find confidence in their natural human potential. Share a hike with Stanley Fisher as he builds endurance for the Marine Corps Marathon. He is running 26.2 miles for The Fisher house Foundation, and dedicating the race to a fallen Marine. Not only is this guy turning a page in his own life, and fitness, but he is also creating positive momentum for other families. I will go out of my way to help anyone that shows that much dedication to creating a better world. GO TEAM HUMANITY!! - TrainerNick.com - http://youtu.be/R3pOwueJgpo"
