The Mid-Hudson Valley Camp provides children a place to run, swim, play and laugh for a few weeks each summer. The children who enjoy this camp are special for many reasons - they live with a variety of diseases, disabilities, and difficult conditions.
The Mid-Hudson Valley Camp hosts 7 week-long sessions for groups including:
- Mentally challenged children
- Mentally challenged adults
- Hearing impaired children
- Children with cancer
- Patients from Harlem Hospital Family Care Clinic
- Inner city children
The Mid-Hudson Valley Camp is located at the Marist Brothers Retreat House and property in Esopus, New York. It is staffed by volunteers, from the counselors and lifeguards to the kitchen and maintenance crews. Many of these volunteers devote their time and energy throughout many weeks during the summer.
On Saturday, September 12th, 2009, a dozen volunteers and friends of camp will embark on a 100 mile bicycle ride to raise money for the camps. Starting from Central Park, we will ride to the Marist Brothers Retreat House in Esopus, finishing in the courtyard pictured above that serves as the hub of all camp activities.
Would you please help support the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp through a donation? Our goal is to raise $25,000, and any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
All contributions are tax deductible. The Marist Brothers of Ulster County are a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code as listed in the Kennedy Directory of Institutions.
