Making a Difference
I’m riding 3,000 miles coast-to-coast so the students and
teachers at Wilmington’s East Side Charter
School can have a new Computer
Laboratory equipped with modern computers and Internet connections. 85% of the
school’s students live below the poverty level; 65% come from single parent
homes; and many need special education assistance.
I also hope to inspire the ESCS students by showing them
they can overcome challenges in life and achieve great goals. The students and
teachers will be following our ride and studying the history and geography of
the regions we travel through.
The Challenge
On September 29th I and seven other Barclaycard
associates will start to cycle cross country from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL
– a distance of over 3,000 miles. We will average over 80 miles a day – over
mountains, through deserts and across coastal plains. To go the distance each
day will take us 6-8 hours and consume over 4,000 calories of energy. You can
learn more about our ride and follow our progress at www.BarclaycardUSACycleChallenge.co.uk
Go the Distance
3,000 miles is a long distance. But it is nothing compared
to the challenges the students at ESCS face. Please be generous and help me go
the distance of raising $50,000 to build a Computer Laboratory ESCS’s students, teachers.
You can Go the Distance and Make a
Difference too!
