Going the Distance
Everyday Barclaycard associates “Go the Distance” to achieve
great things for their customers and partners. Inspired by that commitment and
excellence, eight associates will set out on September
29th to bicycle coast-to-coast from San Diego,
CA to St. Augustine, FL. Pedaling 80 miles a
day, the riders will overcome the challenges of pain, fatigue, mountains,
deserts, heat and rain to go the distance – a total of 3120 miles!
Overcoming Challenges
The Wilmington
East Side Charter
School’s vision is
“Lifelong achievement through educational excellence.” To do this ESCS
students must overcome many life challenges – 85% live below the poverty level;
65% come from single parent homes; and many need special education assistance.
The goal of the Barclaycard USA Cycle Challenge is to
inspire the students of ESCS to overcome those challenges and achieve great
goals. It will also provide an exciting learning experience for the students as
they follow the riders and learn about each region the riders travel through.
Making a Difference
Our goal is to make a dramatic difference by raising $50,000
to build a Computer Laboratory and provide computers, software and Internet
services for ESCS’s students, teachers and library. Funds raised by Barclaycard
associates are eligible for matching funds from Barclays Bank.
