Onward to Tijuana!
On June 25th, Kent Gillin, a recent graduate of Cold Spring Harbor High School on Long Island, will continue with the second leg of his bicycle ride down the west coast of America. The full account of his daily log is available at http://www.cic16.org/events.asp. Stage #1 took him from Vancouver, BC to San Francisco CA as he averaged 54 miles per day in the saddle. He crossed the Golden Gate Bridge on Thursday, August 23, 2007. Stage #2 will start in San Francisco and take him to Tijuana by the 4th of July. He will cover 630 miles in just 10 days. Kent was born with multiple health challenges and his parents were told that he would probably never be able to walk. But thanks to the extraordinary efforts of a wonderful group of teachers and therapists, Kent began walking at age 3-1/2 and he hasn’t stopped since! In an effort to ”pay forward” the kindness shown to him, Kent decided to ride from border to border and raise money for Pat LaFontaine's Companions in Courage Foundation (www.CiC16.org). Proceeds from this ride will go to building a Lion's Den game room at Huntington Hospital in memory of Brianna Titcomb - a local teenager who was tragically killed in 2005. Thank you for your support of this extraordinary teenager's effort.
