| The YMCA is here to serve the entire community. The YMCA strives to make the community a better place by providing quality programs and services at affordable rates, by helping people and families, and by making our community better for our children.
Our 2010 Annual Support Campaign will continue to be challenging given the current economic realities. However, the case to support the YMCA has never been stronger. By contributing to this campaign, you will enable the YMCA to:
BUILD STRONGER FUNDING RESOURCES
Increasing the available financial resources is a key element in fulfilling the YMCA’s mission and essential to our goal of ensuring that no one gets turned away based solely on their inability to pay.
BUILD THE STRENGTH OF OUR FAMILIES
The YMCA will be the leader in programs and activities that strengthen families.
Providing affordable, high-quality child care, summer day camp and family-focused programs is central to our goal of being a positive part of family life.
- We will provide the necessary funding to ensure our child care and summer camp programs are family-friendly and focused on developmentally appropriate activities for children between the ages of 12 months and 14 years old.
- We will fund the M.A.P. (Membership Assistance Program) to ensure that individuals in our community who have lost their employment, through no fault of their own, have the ability to continue their YMCA membership.
- We will fund the Family Wellness Initiative, which promotes family engagement in exercise, diet and nutrition activities for families as a family unit.
- We will fund the Teen Families Program which provides socialization, education and support for Teen Parents and their children.
BUILD HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES
The YMCA will work to improve the health and wellness of our community.
The Activate Delaware County initiative positions the YMCA to provide quality programs and services that make a difference in the community.
- We will continue to provide the resources necessary for the H.I.P. KIDS (a health intervention program), which helps families deal with the issue of childhood obesity and teaches children how to eat healthy while maintaining an active lifestyle.
- We will continue to support and expand the YMCA’s P.A.L. (Physical Activity and Lymphedema) program, which provides support services and wellness activities for those battling and/or recovering from cancer.
- We will continue to embrace the over 65 population by providing programs for exercise, socialization and support while keeping costs minimal.
- We will offer FREE swimming safety lessons to every third grade student in our surrounding school districts through our Safe Swimmer Initiative to help children gain valuable water safety skills and ensure their safety in and around swimming pools.
Please join in our efforts to ensure that our YMCA is a positive part of family life in our communities.
