What: 2 Days. 74 miles, 9,640 feet of elevation gain. Mountain bike the scenic Colorado Trail in the San Juan Mountains from Molas Pass along the continental divide back to Durango.

Why: This demanding ride will benefit the Edwards, Colorado based Heuga Center, a national nonprofit organization leading the way with health and wellness programs that empower people and families living with MS to transform and improve their quality of life. The Heuga Center’s health and wellness programs include five-day CAN DO®, two-day CAN DO 2® and one-day JUMPSTART®.

Each participant is strongly encouraged to raise a minimum of $250 in pledges and/or direct donations. The CT Jamboree tour ride for MS hopes to raise $35,000 that will provide scholarships for people with MS and their families to attend The Heuga Center’s CAN DO Program, Additionally, 5% of proceeds will support to the Colorado Trail Foundation and Trails 2000 to continue our support of this precious national landmark and vital natural resource for our state- the Colorado Trail.

The Heuga Center’s Fiscal Responsibility: 81 percent of funds raised is spent on programs and service for people and families living with MS. The Better Business Bureau’s standard is 65 percent.

The Heuga Center earned four stars, the highest rating possible, from nonprofit evaluator Charity Navigator for our ability to efficiently manage and grow our finances. Charity Navigator is the nation’s largest and most-utilized, independent evaluator of nonprofit organizations.

When: August 2 and 3, 2008 ~ Starting at 6:00 a.m.

Where: Near Durango, Colorado, the ride begins on Molas pass in the center of the San Juan Mountains. Riders head south on the Colorado Trail towards an area known as Hotel Draw where support vehicles will meet them with camping gear, food and refreshments for a night of celebrating and recovery. The following day the ride continues south into the La Plata Mountains and the final rigorous stretch of the Colorado Trial. A post-ride party for all riders will be held Sunday night at 6:00 pm in Durango to celebrate the experience of riding perhaps the finest stretch of alpine single track on the planet!
