Capital Region Special Surgery Race for Hope2
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.
The CRSS Race for Hope is dedicated to supporting those in our Capital Region community affected by brain, head and neck cancers.

Last year, our 1st Annual Race for Hope raised $50,125 for St. Peter's Hospital Cancer Care Center. We had over 400 runners and walkers participate with just as many spectators.

Our second year promises to be even more exciting with the addition of a post-race family fun day and concert with a goal to double our fund-raising this year to $100,000!

Proceeds from this year’s event will support two local organizations: 1) Patient Services at St. Peter's Hospital Cancer Care Center (via a special fund set up through the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation), and 2) Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc.

One in three persons will be diagnosed with cancer some time in their life and it will eventually affect three out of every four families. Cancers of the brain occur in people of all ages, but are more frequent in two age groups, children under the age of 15, and adults 65 years of age and over. The New York State DOH reports, the number of people with metastatic brain tumors (those that have spread from another part of the body) is increasing. Cancer is one of the most common chronic diseases in New York State, and is second only to heart disease as the leading cause of death.
