It was just over a year ago when I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer at the age of 28. Having just finished nine months chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, I'm thrilled to have Kilimanjaro as my next goal!
*** NEWS UPDATE - I have just crossed over my goal amount of $19,341, representing one dollar per foot of altitude in Africa! I'm thrilled, but please note that I am still happy to raise as much money as possible for breast cancer research! I'm trying to raise as much money as possible, and have as many donors as possible. You can still donate! ***
I initially learned of Climb for Hope when my brother Austin was climbing Cotopaxi in Ecuador and bumped into the group. It was a complete coincidence, because my diagnosis had come just weeks before. Now, not only do I have the opportunity to climb the highest peak in Africa, but I'll get to do it with my brother as a guide. Moreover, I'll be the FIRST breast cancer survivor to particpate in Climb for Hope!
Please give whatever you can... I'm paying for my own airfare and equipment, so ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the money you donate will go directly to fund the research of Dr. Leisha Emens at Johns Hopkins. You can read more about her work on the Climb for Hope website by clicking on "Home Page" at the top of this screen.
Thank you so much for your love and support!
