| Progress in the treatment of central nervous system tumors has been frustratingly slow.
BRAIN TUMORS are the leading cause of death from childhood cancer. Annually, over 3,400 children in the United States are diagnosed with benign and malignant brain tumors. The vast majority of these will be found in children under the age of 15.
Although 69% of children with brain tumors may survive, many will suffer debilitating side- effects as a result of treatment, such as hearing and/or vision loss, decreased motor skills, growth hormone deficiencies, learning or behavioral changes, spatial processing issues, short-term/long-term complications, and secondary cancers.
Additional RESEARCH is needed to find safer, more effective therapies that will lead to improved survival rates. New therapies resulting from research will also help reduce the severe neurological, cognitive, and psychological damage now associated with treatment.
Help support us in our mission to raise funds for scientific research and significant programs that heighten awareness of this devastating disease.
