(My message) I don't know how I feel about a personal fundraising webpage.
(Their message) Please sponsor me as I participate in the Baltimore Running Festival on October 15, 2011!
(My message) I don't know how I feel about all the exclamation marks. You don't have to donate through me--this is all about the BSO and I don't want to dilute the importance of supporting the arts and symphonic music with my mediocre athletic achievement. If you don't have money to give, please scream at me to run faster from the sidelines; it would be very appreciated. The BSO could surely use your tax-deductible donation in any form. You don't have to support my running; I assure you my oboe playing is better. But, if I raise a lot of money, I look COOL!!!
The last time I participated in an athletic fundraiser was in fifth grade. It was called "Jump Rope for Life." I gathered contributions for our school's physical education program based in dollars per minute. Then I jumped for 120 minutes until the teachers made me stop. I had to apologize to all the donors and tell them they didn't have to pay me by the minute and could just make a $2-5 donation instead if they preferred (there were several who owed $240 to my bratty little jump-roping self). Luckily for you, this is a flat rate donation. And also lucky for you, I did not tell the story of the sub sandwich fundraiser for the high school band program.
I WILL PROVIDE A FREE OBOE REED TO ANYONE DONATING $100 or MORE! THIS IS A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE OBOE REED!
