| Welles Remy Crowther has become known as "the Man in the Red Bandanna" for his courageous actions that saved many lives on 9/11 before losing his own. The Welles Remy Crowther Trust is dedicated to recognizing and awarding academic and athletic excellence in young men and women who serve their communities. Additionally, the trust supports other not for profit organizations that benefit young people through annual gifts and special awards. The trust was established by the Crowther family to honor and keep their son's memory alive. On Saturday, September 19, 2009 the Fifth Annual Welles Remy Crowther Red Bandanna Run will take place as a tribute to his courage.
