| With more than 3 million volunteers nationwide, the American Cancer Society is one of the oldest, largest, and most trusted voluntary health agencies in the United States. The Society is the largest source of private, nonprofit cancer research funds in the United States, second only to the federal government in total dollars spent. Since 1946, the American Cancer Society has invested more than $3.2 billion in cancer research and has funded 42 Nobel Prize winners early in their careers.
