Thank you for all that you have done for the All Stars Project and our young people! This has been a strong year for the All Stars and we hope you will be able to give your support so that we can continue making a significant impact on the lives of inner-city youth.
Especially during these challenging economic times, it is very meaningful that you make All Stars a priority, invest in development and make our programs available to more kids. Our commitment has been to be there for inner-city youth – through good times and bad – ensuring that they have their chance at a more developed and growthful life.
Here are some recent highlights:
• The Development School for Youth (DSY) has had its largest summer yet! Ninety partnering companies created paid summer internship for 285 graduates of the DSY who spent the summer learning to perform in the corporate environment.
• In early August, The DSY received national TV coverage when youth leaders and adults gathered at the All Stars performing arts and development center on West 42nd Street to salute their mentor and supporter, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, as she was sworn in to serve on the nation's highest court. Click to watch it here!
• This summer, college interns and All Stars volunteers met thousands of new supporters on the streets of New York, San Francisco, and Chicago! Our GOAL community organizing college interns spearheaded a campaign that raised more than $40,000 and sponsored over 1,000 more young people to participate in All Stars programs!
• The Castillo Theatre is in production for the fall. This season starts with one of our most popular youth productions, the All Stars Hip-Hop Cabaret, directed by Dan Friedman and Antoine “RL” Joyce, running August 28th-September 19th. For more information visit www.castillo.org.
• Our youth programs are gearing up for the fall! The Development School for Youth and Youth OnStage! fall cycles kick off in September, and the next All Stars Talent Show will take place at Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn on October 24th.
Inner-city young people have never before had this kind of new and expanding community that supports and encourages their development. In addition, all of this is possible because of the privately funded partnership across America which supporters like you anchor.
This is an important time to invest in our young people. Please take a moment to make a new gift. You can also call Chris Street at 212-356-8454.
Thank you from your special All Stars phone team! We look forward to speaking to you soon.

HOW TO MAKE A BEQUEST TO THE ASP
THE SOCIETY FOR RACIAL HARMONY was founded to give special recognition to those All Stars supporters who through their planned gifts are expressing their abiding commitment to the future of young people and to the creation of innovative development programs and experiences for inner-city youth. Planned gifts include:
* Making a bequest
* Assigning a charity as a beneficiary in an IRA
* Creating a Charitable Remainder Trust
* Other estate planning vehicles which can be recommended by financial planners or estate attorneys
We chose the name - Society for Racial Harmony - because we feel it reflects the long term mission of All Stars. All Stars programs are committed to producing environments in which people from different backgrounds, neighborhoods, ages, class and financial circumstances can have conversations and work together and learn from each other, and in so doing, create racial harmony. As Americans, we continue to be concerned about the divisions - economic, cultural, racial, and educational - that exist in our country. We believe the All Stars has an important role to play in closing these divides.
Your legacy matters. Society members have made a decision that will have an impact on inner city youth for decades to come. If you are interested in making a planned gift to help the All Stars, please call Christopher Street, Senior Vice President at 212-356-8454.
MAKE A BEQUEST
Through a bequest, you may leave a specific dollar amount, all or a percentage of your residuary estate, or specific assets such as marketable securities. A bequest to a charitable organization can significantly save on estate taxes. An outright bequest to the All Stars Project will pass free of estate taxes and will count as a deduction when calculating your taxable estate.
Any bequest to the All Stars Project is deeply appreciated. The most useful bequest is an unrestricted bequest which permits the All Stars to strategically direct your gift where it's needed most. You may make a bequest to the All Stars Project by preparing a new will or adding a codicil to your existing will. To assure that your specific intentions are carried out, wills and codicils should be prepared by, or with the advice of, your attorney.
If you have included the All Stars Project in your long-range financial and/or estate plans, we would love to know who you are so we can thank you, and, with your permission, list you in our annual report of donors and include you in special mailings and events.
Suggested language for use in making an unrestricted gift through a bequest:
“I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to the All Stars Project, Inc. a not-for-profit corporation, organized and exisiting under the laws of the State of New York, now having its principal place of business at 543 West 42nd Street, New York, New York 10036 or <% of my estate>, the said or to be used for the All Stars’ general purposes.”
