The American Cancer Society has been waging the war against cancer for nearly a century, and our commitment to defeating the disease has never wavered. Together, you and your American Cancer Society are fighting cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient services:
- The Society invests more than $120 million annually, funding more cancer research than any other nonprofit organization. Currently in Texas, we are funding over $35.3 million.
- With both prevention and early detection information, people can take an active role in how cancer affects them. Almost 3 million Texans receive these health messages annually.
- The Society’s supports local, state, and federal legislation that reduces the impact of cancer.
- About 750,000 cancer patients are serviced each year through our Cancer Resource Network, including over 35,000 in Texas. The network provides services that include home medical equipment, volunteer transportation and hotel lodging programs, support groups, one-on-one visitation, and educational programs that assist in coping with the disease.
Our lifesaving efforts are funded exclusively by the generosity of donors like you. Every day we are closer to a cure, but there is still so much that needs to be done.
