| Hello and Thank You for visiting my fundraising page.
I caught the 24 hour bug again this year. I can’t guarantee that it is not contagious. Continue reading at your own risk!
Cause: To support Back On My Feet and their goal to assist individuals transition out of homeless shelters
Symptoms: dedication, commitment, discipline, respect, leadership, team work and goal setting
Complications: sore but happy feet
Established in July 2007, Back on My Feet is a strategically structured program that uses running as a vehicle to teach critical work and life skills to individuals living in homeless shelters. Through dedication, attitude and commitment, the members progress to advanced stages in the program that offer connections to job training, educational scholarships and housing assistance.
I have been a team member with Back On My Feet for over a year now and I truly enjoy being part of this team. Great friendships were formed with other volunteers and individuals living in homeless shelters. I have seen the happiness and success that this program has on its members and I am very fortunate to be part of it.
Three times a week at 5:30am, my team that is made up of volunteers and individuals living at the Ridge Homeless Shelter meet to run 1-5 miles. We train for events ranging from a 5k to a marathon. Through running, we create a community of love, hope, trust, friendship, encouragement and support that allows positive decision making for all our members.
In addition to accomplishing mileage goals, the members are furthering their education, getting jobs, quitting smoking, eating better, feeling better, smiling more and hugging tighter. It's truly a beautiful thing to be a part of and we need your support to keep growing.
The demand for the BOMF program is high. With your help, the number of individuals we can help is limitless. It costs approximately $100 to add a new member to the program. To host a member for an entire year, which includes earned access to our grant program that is used for housing-related and career-related expenses as well as the opportunity for educational scholarships, it costs BOMF an average of $1,800.
On July 17, I will participate in the Lone Ranger Ultra Marathon to support this great program and I need your help. I will be running for 24 hours and hopefully break the 100 mile. Last year, I managed to complete 89 miles in 24 hours. Please consider making a donation to Back On My Feet to help move an individual out of a homeless shelter and back on their own feet. My fundraising goal is $1800.
Thanks in advance for your support and for taking the time to read my page.
