I am participating in the TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour on May 6, 2012 as a “virtual rider” on the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) PowerTeam.
Last year I rode the 42 mile ride and raised $10,000 for myeloma research through my efforts. Just after the ride my disease progressed and,as you all know by now, in January I went through a stem cell transplant.
I will be sitting out the ride this year, but you can still support me, because I will be there in spirit! I ask you to support me as a ‘virtual rider’ because this is a way that you can still DO SOMETHING to help me and patients like me: An amazing 90% of all funds raised are budgeted for myeloma research.
I plan on getting ‘back in the saddle’ in 2013!
So much progress has been made, thanks to the MMRF and their medical and pharmaceutical partners. Because of the MMRF’s relentless pursuit of treatments to accelerate next generation treatments, there will be many options very shortly down the road for patients.
Please consider supporting me this year as I regain my health and strength. So many of you have shown how much you care and have offered to help. This is an important way that you can do that. No donation is too small. They all add up quickly, so whatever you can give to support me and the MMRF is a huge help!
Thank you so much for all of your support through this medical journey. I look forward to riding in the event in 2013 with your names on my jersey and your love in my heart!
