It's been 3 years since my trek to the Everest Base Camp, and I finally found a local challenge worth training for...running up the Empire State Building in a fundraiser!
This event is the ultimate NYC challenge and an event that interested athletes find almost impossible to get an entry for.
The race starts in the lobby of the most famous building in New York City. When the gun goes off, a wave of 100 MMRF athletes will race up 86 flights of stairs for the NYRR Empire State Building Run-Up Powered by the MMRF. A quick (?) 1,576 steps will take me from the ground floor to the final lap around the Observation Deck that looms nearly a quarter mile above 5th Avenue.
Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year relative survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
