| Girls on the Run St. Louis is an after-school program that uses the power of running to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. During our 10-week program, girls are empowered with greater self- awareness, a sense of achievement and a foundation in team building to help them become strong, happy and self-confident young women. As demand for our program continues to increase, so do our funding needs.
For the 2011-2012 school year, we will operate programs in more than 180 schools in 19 counties in eastern Missouri and western Illinois and serve more than 4,000 girls! Our philosophy is to never turn a girl away who wants to participate in our program and cannot afford it. This year we anticipate distributing more than $362,000 in scholarships during the 2011-2012 school year.
