| Tour de HLN for Multiple Myeloma Research |

As many fellow Huey Lewis and the News fans know, I have twice before ridden my bike from Sausalito to The Mountain Winery in Saratoga to attend their show down there.
This year I plan to do the ride again, for the show on August 15, but instead of just doing it for the sake of it, I thought it would be good to use it as a fundraising opportunity for researching a cure for Multiple Myeloma, the disease that sadly took News Brother Ron Stallings from us earlier this year.

Multiple Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer which has one of the worst survival rates of any cancer. Since myeloma is a small ‘orphan’ cancer, it does not receive much research funding from pharmaceutical companies, so that's where organizations like the MMRF come in.
Through this page you can pledge money to support the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. (Click the logo above to learn more about the foundation and the disease.) Choose any amount you are comfortable with; if you'd like to key it to the distance I'll be riding, it'll be about 65 miles, or the even-more-impressive-sounding number of 100 kilometers.
Donating should be easy. The hard part I'll be doing: the pedaling...

UPDATE 8/27 I did the ride! All 62+ miles, including all the ones uphill :-) Thanks to everyone for their support! And if you were waiting to see if I'd do the ride before donating, there's still time! This page should continue to work for a few more weeks. |
