| Hello,
I'm running the New York City Half-Marathon on August 16th and the NYC Marathon on November 1, 2009. I've gotten my entry numbers through the MMRF. The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is a great charity. I'm honored to be associated with it and to raise money for them.
Multiple Myeloma is a form of blood cancer. It has affected our family friends, the Giustis, as well as the family of one of my colleagues at SAC Capital. The disease was essentially untreatable until Kathy Giusti founded the MMRF. Since then, the MMRF as helped fund research that has discovered several treatments that have extended the lives and improved the quality of life of the people who have the disease. Although multiple myeloma is still incurable, the MMRF continues to drive the search for a cure.
One of the most impressive things MMRF has accomplished is getting public and private research organizations to coordinate their efforts in a way that speeds the overall research process. The results have been promising, not only for myeloma, but also in finding treatments that are useful for other kinds of cancer. MMRF runs their organization like a business, and creates partnerships that were previously unthinkable. It is a model for other foundations.

Thank you,
