YO Yo Yo! Thanks to EVERYBODY for your generous contributions. I have been overwhelmed by the response from so many people, and with Nick kicking in the last $480 around midnight, we reached my goal of 5,000 dollars!

If you know me well, you know that i cry almost every day over something, usually about the plight or current state of the human condition. doesn't take much - a newspaper article, an old person, a memory. Well, the gathering at this event is pretty heavy. Whole teams of people, with custom shirts bearing the image of a friend lost to cancer. I saw one group with a picture of a young boy, about 12 years old,and the quote, "Dad, is this disease life-threatening?"

so yeah, an emotional time for me, but a pretty joyous one too. Some people were there just to run a fast time, but most were there to raise money. I was super-proud to have so many POQ (People of Quality) step up and support the cause. We raised 5,000 dollars in 2 weeks! that's fucking AWESOME!

oh, and i ran the 70 floors in 12 minutes, which is pretty unremarkable, and i know i can do it faster next time. I just had the same pace throughout, and forgot to "kick" for the last 20 floors. so next year- 10 minutes!

As you may know, my sister's husband, Bones Thomas, had a battle with cancer a few years back. Things got pretty nasty, with sub-toxic radiation and stem-cell therapy, and thankfully a kidney transplant, but they stayed strong and tough through the whole ordeal, and he's still with us, handlebar moustache and shaggy hair looking as good as ever. The battle's never fully over, and through him i've learned again how precious each day is, and how foolish most worries are.

So I did this for Bones, and for me and for you, and everyone else that may benefit from cancer research. i don't care how much you pledge, or even IF you pledge, i'm also doing this to help raise awareness in myself and others of leukemia, lymphoma, amyloidosis, and all the other stupid diseases that kill so many good people.
