| A year ago, an amazing thing happened. Both my wife Caroline and I simultaneously sent each other a link to a picture of a little girl in a pink dress, far away in an orphanage in Haiti. Miranda was three years old, with possible autism and/or global delays. We showed Miranda’s picture to our other three children – Meredith, Aaron, and James – and we all knew as a family that Miranda had to come home. She has been at the orphanage nearly all her life.
Thanks to the Brittany’s Hope Foundation, many special needs children have found their forever families. The grants which they provide have helped reduce the financial burden which often comes with adoption, and let families focus on what really matters: loving these beautiful children and helping them to achieve their greatest potential.
Miranda isn’t home yet, but we look forward to being there for her as she experiences so many wonderful and new things. There are so many things that we want to share and do. Her sunny little room waits with story books and toys. People like you have made it possible for this miraculous journey to happen. Take a look at the photolistings and I’m sure that you’ll agree, every one of these dear little children deserves a loving family. This was Brittany Ann O’Connell’s greatest wish. Together, we can make it a reality.

This year's annual Walk of Love is dedicated to the 143 million children living in orphanages, foster care, on the streets and in child-headed households (Unicef, 2006, The State of the World). The world is facing an orphan care crisis caused by war, poverty, unstable governments, and AIDS. These precious children are abandoned to the injustices and evil of this world, falling victim to predators, disease and an endless cycle of pain and hopelessness. The Apostle John wrote, “Let us not love with words only...but with actions.”
Our theme this year, “Lifting Orphans’ Voices Everywhere” reflects our commitment to action and love towards these abandoned little ones. We need your help to break the cycle of hopelessness! The funds we raise will help abandoned children find loving families and bring necessities and comfort to those sweet children who never leave the orphanage or streets of their native lands. Please open your heart and consider contributing today!
