UPDATE - 3/2/2008
On Sunday, March 2nd, I raced (well, at a reasonable pace) up 69 flights of stairs in full firefighting gear, achieving a new personal record, 27 mins 41 secs. To see all race results, click here. Not only is this event a physical challenge, but also an important fundraising challenge. If you are able to contribute to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, there is still time!
DONATIONS ARE ACCEPTED UNTIL MARCH 31ST, 2008
Donating is simple and online. Just enter the amount of your desired donation in the yellow box below and follow the instructions to use your Visa/Debit securely - or - if you prefer to make your donation with a check, please make out your check to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and mail it to me. I am sending in all checks together with a pledge form. For my address or for any questions or concerns, please email me: mheffner@salemfirefighters.net

About the Event
At 788 feet of vertical elevation, the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle stands as the second tallest building west of the Mississippi. It takes 69 flights of stairs and 1,311 steps to reach the highly acclaimed observation deck overlooking the city. On Sunday, March 2nd, firefighters will race up the stairs in full fire gear and SCBA to help raise funds and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year we expect over 1,400 firefighters from 180 departments to compete in the event, once again making the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb the largest single firefighting competition in the world.
