Welcome to TEAM TSA! Our members run, walk or cycle to benefit more than just their own health. With every step they help the national Tourette Syndrome Association get One Lap Closer To A Cure.
With your support, TSA can continue to fund research to discover a cause and find a cure for TS, while providing education and awareness programs for this often misunderstood disorder and services for those living with TS and their families.
Members of TEAM TSA Miami will be running or walking in the ING Miami Marathon on Jan. 25, 2009. The Oceanside course, offering coastline views, will be a dream come true for participants. Their dream is to help fund research to find a cure for Tourette Syndrome and much needed services for people living with TS and their families.
TS, an inherited neurobiological disorder, is characterized by involuntary sudden movements and vocalizations, known as tics, which occur repeatedly. The onset of TS can begin as early as age 5. What causes TS is not yet fully understood, and to date, a cure has not been found. It is estimated that one person out of a hundred has a mild form of the disorder and one in one thousand has a severe case of TS.
TSA is the only national voluntary non-profit membership organization in this field. Its mission is to identify the cause, find the cure and control the effects of this often misunderstood disorder. Today, TSA has grown into a major national health-related organization with chapters and support groups nationwide.
TSA oversees its Research Fund which provides grants to highly qualified scientists in major universities and research centers as they strive to uncover the mysteries of TS in relentless pursuit of its cause and cure.
Please join our mission. Your support can make a difference! |
