TEAM TSA Chicago Marathon Team 2008
One Lap Closer To A Cure!
Welcome to TEAM TSA! Our members run, walk or cycle to benefit more than just their own health. With every step they help the national Tourette Syndrome Association get One Lap Closer To A Cure.

With your tax deductible gift, TSA can continue to fund a world-wide cutting edge research program to discover a cause and find a cure for TS, while providing educational programs, awareness actvities and other services for people living with TS and their families.

TEAM TSA Chicago will be hitting the downtown streets of Chicago on Sunday Oct. 12, 2008. More than 1.5 million spectators are expected to line the 26.2 mile course to cheer on the runners and help them accomplish their personal dreams. For our team their dream is to find a cure for Tourette Syndrome, an inherited neurobiological disorder.

TS is characterized by involuntary sudden movements and vocalizations, known as tics, which occur repeatedly. A common misconception is that those affected curse uncontrollably. In fact, less than 10 percent of those affected have what is known as coprolalia. What causes TS is not yet fully understood, and to date, a cure has not been found. It is estimated that one person out of a hundred has a mild form of the disorder and one in one thousand has a severe case of TS.
