Event Directors: Add an Official Course Route to your event details!

Active.com has teamed up with MapMyFitness to provide your participants quick and easy access to the most current and accurate course routes anywhere. Finally, endurance racers will have a way to distinguish your official route from the thousands of user-generated routes you can find online.

Here's how it works:

1) Find your event on Active.com and click the “Maps” tab below your event’s location.

Go to Active.com and search for your event. Be sure you are logged in with your event director credentials.

Click on the “Maps” tab (see screenshot).

If there is already a course route in the MapMyFitness database that closely matches your event, you will see it at the top of the “Maps” tab. But any route not expressly endorsed by you, the Event Director, will be clearly marked unofficial.

Click “Verify this route or create a new one.”

2) Verify your official route by selecting or editing an existing route, creating a new route, or submitting the location of an existing MapMyFitness route.

Verifying an existing route:

The map that appears is the MapMyFitness route that best matches your event. If this is not the correct route, you can also view other “possible matches” using the arrows below the map route (see screenshot).

Once you have found your course route, click “Yes, This Map is Correct.” This route will now appear as an Official Route on your Active.com event details page.

Or, you might find a route that is close, but needs some modifications. If so, you may choose to edit an existing map.

  • Click “Edit this map."
  • Log in to MapMyFitness, create a new account or proceed anonymously.
  • Use MapMyFitness controls to modify your route
  • Follow MapMyFitness instructions to Save.

Once saved, your modified route will appear as an Official Route on your Active.com event details page.

If no current course routes match your event, you can create a new route.

  • Begin by clicking the “Map Your Own” link.
  • Log in to MapMyFitness, create a new account or proceed anonymously.
  • Use MapMyFitness controls to create your route and follow the instructions to Save.

Once saved, your route will appear as an Official Route on your Active.com event details page.

Link an Existing Route:

If you already have your course route mapped on MapMyFitness, you can simply submit a link to it.

  • Find your route on MapMyFitness and copy the Link from the page, or location from your browser’s address bar.
  • The location (or URL) will look something like: http://www.mapmyrun.com/ride/united-states/ca/san-diego/974504363040.
  • Click “Link an Existing Route.”
  • Paste the URL into the form field, and then click “Link.”
  • Once saved, your route will appear as an Official Route on your Active.com event details page.

To modify your existing Official route, log in to Active.com and click the “modify this route” link above the course map.

Then Remove, Modify or Create a new course map.
