What's Included

Molly’s Hinged Bracelet Instructor: Molly Sharp Voorhees Prerequisites: DSMA Metals I & II Class Limit: 10 Class Duration: 24 Hours In this 3 day workshop, instructor Molly Sharp Voorhees will be teaching a brand new technique. Based on the fluidity of the traditional three-knuckle hinge, Molly has designed a simplified and beautifully executed hinge using tubing, wire and jump rings. Students will enjoy learning this visually appealing hinge option for its beauty and for its easier construction. Three quarter inch square panels will be cut from sterling sheet, which you will have previously patterned with brass plates in a roll mill. Each of these squares will be connected by soldering tubing to opposite sides, and connected with Argentium wire and jump rings. This technique provides a very articulated “hinge”. Students will learn how to depletion guild in preparation for learning the Korean technique known as Keum Boo. This will add some additional interest and perceived value to your bracelet at very minimal cost. After this workshop students can go home and add gold accents to many other jewelry pieces. Students will also have the opportunity to add even more visual interest to their bracelets by adding a piece of mica in a silver frame to the center panel and riveting it into place. (See bracelet photo). Students will then construct a handmade clasp out of sterling silver wire. Finishing and polishing will be included. Molly is from North Carolina and has an impressive resume.
