Tooled Leather Pendant with Faceted Stone Instructor: Judy Brown Prerequisites: DSMA Metals I and II Class Limit: 10 Class Duration: 16 Hours In this exciting two day workshop, students will discover how to create a striking project of tooled leather set in a unique, constructed sterling silver, one of a kind pendant frame. With Judy Brown’s guidance, students will use unfinished tooled leather and explore the best practices for conditioning and treating the leather for final integration into the sterling pendant frame. Students will explore effective techniques for precision cutting and shaping of the leather, which is of utmost importance, so it will fit perfectly in the pendant with no gaps. The pendant itself will be embellished with a tube set stone of your choice. This workshop promises to exceed your expectations and provide techniques to create stunning jewelry that demands attention. Techniques learned in this workshop include: -Design a basic desired shape on paper -Creating the inlaid leather piece for an exact fit -Shaping your design -Forging a bail -Cutting, filing and fitting parts for final design -Soldering the tube setting into the design -Clean up and polish -Setting faceted stone in tube set Students will purchase a $ 35.00 kit for this workshop which includes: *acetate or vellum sheets *tooled leather *leather conditioner *leather protectant *rotary cutter/blades *saddle soap *glue eraser *magnum wheels and mandrel *barges glue
