What's Included

Prerequisites: Metals I & II In this student-requested workshop, seasoned instructor Joe Lupo will demonstrate the technique of flush setting a stone. Students will make a ring shank in class and learn and practice the technique on a three-inch piece of flat wire before setting stones in their ring shank. The table of the stone will be flush with the top of the ring band. Techniques included are: How to make a sterling silver ring with texture How to correctly countersink for stone placement Drill proper hole for stone to sit into Use a bud bur to open the hole to exact size Use a hart bur to cut a ‘seat’ to fit the stone Leveling the seat Setting stones with a burnisher Students should go home with a sample piece of flat wire with stones set for practice and a ring with stones set.
