This 8 hour workshop is PACKED with techniques which will enhance students’ previous PMC experience by teaching students how to: 1. Prepare PMC pieces for soldering with a butane torch (provided by DSMA), soldering on ear wires and ear posts. 2. How to make and use molds of all kinds of objects. Typically, this is the part of class students get a real kick out of, as everyone brings in things to mold and shares them with everyone else. That way each student goes home with many molds to use with PMC that they would not have otherwise had. It is really FUN! 3. We also will be using paste to cover a living leaf or paint onto wet paper to make a fabric like metal piece to use in future jewelry making. **PLEASE REFER TO THE TOOL LIST FOR WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE FOR CLASS. YOU WILL BE BRINGING IN 2 SETS OF PRE MADE EARRINGS AS PER INSTRUCTIONS. NOTHING WILL BE MADE IN THIS WORKSHOP, WE WILL BE WORKING ON THINGS ALREADY MADE. **PLEASE BRING IN ANTIQUE BUTTONS AND OTHER BUTTONS AND DIFFERENT OBJECTS TO MOLD. THE MOLD COMPOUND WE USE PICKS UP TINY DETAILS VERY WELL! DARLENE WILL GUIDE STUDENTS IN USING OBJECTS IN MOLDING. NOT ALL THINGS MAKE GOOD MOLDS. This is the most exciting part of the class! Students get to mold Darlene’s stash and what other students bring as well! If the workshop is in the summer, LIVE Geranium or Dusty Miller leaves (around nickel to quarter size) are good for painting with the PMC paste. Deep veining is highly recommended.
