Cold Connections 101 Instructor: Darlene Armstrong or Sara McGraw Prerequisite: None (must be proficient at cutting out shapes with a saw frame) This informative and fun class will introduce the student to the wonderful world of cold connections. Riveting is used to connect parts together without the use of soldering. There are books written on nothing but how to make jewelry using riveting techniques. Perfect for someone wanting to learn a different way to build jewelry pieces without soldering, or a budding metalsmith who has not yet learned to solder, along with learning tube and wire rivets. Students will also learn how to wire rivet a bezel cup onto a pendant & set a stone without soldering! AM will learn and practice techniques – after lunch students will develop and build their own designs. There is not a prerequisite for this workshop, however, students must be proficient in cutting out metal shapes with a jeweler's saw frame.
