About This Activity

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available supporting the Air Force Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K which are held September 21, 2013 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The Sports and Fitness Expo volunteer opportunities are available Sept 18, 2013-Sept 20, 2013 at the Wright State University Nutter Center hosting 30,000 runners and spectators. Other volunteer opportunities include our 5K Race hosted by WSU Nutter Center on Sept 20, 2013.

Pre-marathon volunteer opportunities details

Pre-marathon volunteer opportunities are located on base and require base access. Specific location details will appear on your email confirmation.

Sports and Fitness Expo volunteer details

Our Sports and Fitness Expo opportunities are available starting Wednesday, Sept 18, 2013 - Friday, Sept 20, 2013 and are located at Wright State University Nutter Center located at 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy, Fairborn, OH 45435. Volunteer parking is free.

Gourmet Pasta Dinner Volunteer Details

Our Gourmet Pasta Dinner is held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in the Modern Flight Hanger on Friday, Sept 20, 2013. Volunteers for these positions can pick up their volunteer shirts and check in at the museum prior to the start of your shift (you do not need to make a special trip to the Nutter Center).

Race Day volunteer location and details

Race Day is Saturday, Sept 21, 2013 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force located at 1100 Spaatz Street, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio 45433. All Race Day volunteers are required to check in at our Sports and Fitness Expo at the WSU Nutter Center to receive their parking pass & shirt Wednesday, Sept 18, 2013 Noon-5pm or Thursday, Sept 19 11am-7pm.

Race Day Individual Hydration Station Volunteers

The only hydration station open to individual volunteers that does not require a "group" password is Hydration Station C at Kauffman & Shields - C-17 FMS Team. Hydration Station volunteer shirts are distributed to station captains prior to race day and captains are responsible for distribution. No Hydration Station Volunteer shirts will be distributed at expo. Registration closes Aug 31-volunteers recruited after that will not receive shirts.

Race Day Group Hydration Stations

Password required. Race Day is Saturday, Sept 21, 2013. Each Hydration Station has a different location. Hydration Station volunteer shirts are distributed to station captains prior to race day and captains are responsible for distribution. No Hydration Station Volunteer shirts will be distributed at expo. Please check with your station captain regarding available spots for children under 16. Registration closes Aug 31-volunteers recruited after that will not receive shirts.

Permissive TDY

Volunteering for the 2013 Marathon DOES NOT qualify as Permissive TDY.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER FOR MULTIPLE SHIFTS - You can volunteer for multiple shifts. Enter your information for your first volunteer selection - at the end it will ask you if you would like to register for another category - select yes (you will not have to re-enter your personal info - just select your next volunteer shift).

Fees

Not only is it FREE, all volunteers receive an official Air Force Marathon volunteer T-shirt.
