Program requirements: Register for one session and volunteer for an additional two weeks following the session’s end, for a total commitment of four weeks. The Counselor-in-Training, or CIT program, is taught by experienced teachers who have a breadth of knowledge in the realm of volunteerism, child development, and classroom management. As a CIT, you will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a counselor through hands-on experience and practice opportunities. You will spend the morning with other CITs learning the skills necessary to allow you to serve as a volunteer, which you will then experience in the afternoon segment of our Summer at Hockaday camps and classes. Through this program, you are certain to enhance citizenship and leadership skills; delve into volunteerism, all while having fun, enhancing teamwork, and gaining real world experience! After completing the two-week training session, you will spend two weeks volunteering within the Summer at Hockaday Lower School camps and classes. You will quickly develop your own fan club as our younger campers and students love our CITs!
