DFW Truck Farm Fun Run

About This Activity

The second annual DFW Truck Farm Fun Run at Earth Day Dallas on April 21, 2012! The DFW Truck Farm Fun Run will begin and end at Fair Park, just east of Downtown Dallas. Our emphasis on this event is the FUN part!

Participants will line up for the fun run and have the opportunity to do a little zumba prior to the start of the event, shake your bon bons...or race bibs we mean! As you race through Fair Park, you';ll encounter planting stations with Smart Pot containers, soil from the FarmGirls Organic Gardening Radio Show, heirloom seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company and awesome volunteers that will help you plant the seeds and move on down the path of hte fun run. In between you';ll see yoga instructors do all sorts of fun poses and you can stop and try out a yoga pose, once you try out the pose, you get a sticker -- collect all 5 stickers and receive a prize at the end of the fun run! Stop at the Crazy Water drink station for natural water from Mineral Wells, Texas and once you cross the finish line you can join in on an after run stretch with the Crowbar Cardio Team!

Did you like the yoga poses along the run? Yoga4Love is hosting an hour community yoga class following the fun run, wear your race bib to get into the class!

This year we have five local farmers, Becky Scasta, Marie Tedei, Ken Davis, Garlic Mike Kirby, and Elizabeth Samuido judging the "Dress Like a Farmer, Run Like a Farmer" contest! Prizes donated by Whiskey Cake, Velvet Taco, Yoga4Love, Face Logic, and Larken Farms.

All participants will pick up their race packets (that is a farmer hat) before the fun run at one of our sponsored locations. All race participants will receive a t-shirt, race bib, farmer hat, and goodies from our sponsors. *All youth size t-shirts are on first come first serve only and farmer hats are one per entry, family entries count as one entry.

The proceeds of the event go to the DFW Truck Farm, a vegetable garden planted in the bed of a pick up truck that drives to schools and community events to teach others how to garden. If we can grow eggplant, beets, swiss chard, lettuce, basil, tomatoes, and other fresh vegetables in the bed of a truck - anyone can garden anywhere! Check out the truck farm at http://dfwtruckfarm.squarespace.com/

We hope to see you, a friend, and your family at the upcoming fun run!
