Brief Description

Riders experience the thrill of a 2x2, paced and police escorted ride; choosing either the full 100 mile course or the 45 mile second-half ride.

Additional Information

Bicyclists ride together as a team, escorted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police, and local police keeping an average pace of 14-15 mph on the flat portions of the 100 or 45 mile Ride. Rest stops are arranged at schools along the route and riders interact with the children during an educational entertainment program at each school. Imagine the impression made on the school children as they see 120 bicycle riders escorted by police cars with lights flashing! Riders in past years have told us that this is the most gratifying aspect of the Ride. New in 2010 is the addtion of the 45 mile second-half ride! These riders meet at ECC North at 11:00 am where they will be escorted to our lunch stop. They will have lunch with the 100 mile riders and finish the remaining 45 miles as a group. All riders will finish together with a grand celebration at ECC North for riders, families and friends! Although riders are encouraged to train to complete their entire route, riders are not required to ride the entire distance. Buses are available for riders to rest as needed. Riders must be certified by the Ride Committee for safety. There is no fee to ride, however riders are required to raise a minimum of $250 each. The community donations support the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children/New York Regional Office (NCMEC/NY) prevention education and NY office mission.
