14th Annual Eat A Peach
Challenge Bike Ride
Saturday, August 14, 2010
All routes start and finish at the Carroll County Agricultural Center. This year’s bike ride has something for everyone, from the novice to the challenge-seeker! Carroll and Frederick counties are known for their beautiful, hilly countryside. So whether you are tackling the rolling hills of the Peach Fuzz or the monster hills of the Peach Pit, you are guaranteed to have an exciting ride!
Peach Fuzz
12-mile route challenges novice riders with several hills. This shorter, easier route is a great way to become acquainted with the Ride! There will not be a rest stop along this route, but SAG will be available. Registration and start time: 7:00 am - 9:00 am.
The Peach
33-mile route has two rest stops. A pleasant ride with hills and nice scenery past horse farms. Registration and start time: 7:00 am - 9:00 am.
Peach Tree
40-mile route for the more experienced rider who is ready to
tackle a longer distance and larger hills; route has 3 rest stops. Registration and start time: 7:00 am - 9:00 am.
Peach Jam
67-mile route traverses Carroll and Frederick Counties and has 4 rest stops. This hilly route is an Eat A Peach favorite for the past 7 years. Registration and start time: 7:00 am - 8:00 am.
Peach Pit
100-mile route! Are you ready for the CHALLENGE? This ride, with about 7000 feet of climbing, combines the excitement of the 67-mile and 33-mile routes. Registration and start time: 7:00 am - 8:00 am. You must pass the 67-mile mark by 1:00 pm in order to continue on the final loop. Toughest one-day ride in Carroll County!
Peach Festival & Kids’ Fun Station
Come and enjoy the many activities at the Peach Festival located at the Ride’s Start/Finish. At the Fun Station, kids will be able to touch a Jell-o brain to learn about the consistency and fragility of their own brain; examine “Herman,” a reproduction of a human skull and brain; do arts and crafts projects; and leave with a properly-fitted bicycle helmet. Kid’s Fun Station activities are free
