Brief Description

The 35th Midwest Tandem Rally will be held this year in Shipshewana, In, the heart of Indiana's Amish Country, Sep 3-6, 2010. This annual event is a family friendly tandeming ride, with riding opportunities on routes of varying lengths Friday through Monday.

Food

All hotels listed below have some form of breakfast included in their room pricing. No central breakfast will be available.

Lunches on Saturday and Sunday are included in your Registration Fee. Please indicate on the registration form if you desire a vegetarian lunch.

Friday and Saturday nights you are free to sample the local dining establishments. Look for additional restaurant information in your Registration packet.

Sunday Rally Banquet Buffet

The banquet festivities are a large part of the MTR weekend’s fun. We have intentionally priced the banquet as reasonable as possible to encourage all teams to participate. There are VERY limited dining options in the Shipshewana area on Sundays, due to religious practices. The Banquet will be held at the Shipshewana Town Center, walking distance from the Farmstead Inn. Seating is limited to, so be sure to order your banquet tickets when you register.

Midwest Tandem Rally Merchandise

We are offering MTR short sleeve and sleeveless jerseys for men and women, made by VOMAX. Also available for purchase are MTR socks, T-shirts, Polo shirts and commemorative license plates. Check out full color illustrations of the merchandise at the MTR 2010 website www.mtr2010.org. Check the sizing charts when you order. Jersey orders must be received by 6/15/10. Other merchandise must be ordered by August 1, 2010. MTR merchandise will NOT be available for purchase at the Rally.

Rally Teams

ALL Rally teams will receive a team Fanny Flag to help with safety identification and bicycle storage procedures. Be sure to complete the requested information on page 4 of the Registration Form. Souvenir plastic license plates are also available for purchase.

SAG Support and Communication

Participants are expected to be prepared and able to complete the selected routes. Your bicycle should be in good working order, and you should carry the tools and spare parts necessary to make minor repairs. Sag and communications support will be available to help in the event of an unforeseen problem or emergency.

Workshops

A variety of workshops by and for the tandem cyclist will be offered on Saturday afternoon/early evening. It’s a good time to research and learn from those who have been there or gone before. Vendors

The vendor display area will be located in the Farmstead Inn Conference Center. A variety of vendors from around the country will be displaying their latest accessories, tandems and cycling toys. Directions From the West

I-80/I-90/Indiana Toll Road toward Ohio (portions toll). Take the IN-13/US 131 exit, Exit 107, toward US 131/Constantine/Middlebury. Turn right onto IN-13, 1.6 miles. Turn left onto IN 120, 5 miles. Turn right on SR 5, 4.1 miles. Continue straight on SR 5 (N. VanBuren Street) through downtown Shipshewana, 3.5 miles to Farmstead Inn on right side of street.

Directions From The East

Turn left (south) onto SR 5, 4.1 miles. Continue straight on SR 5 (N. VanBuren Street) through downtown Shipshewana, 3.5 miles to Farmstead Inn on right side of street.

Refunds

Refunds for registration and meals will only be granted upon receipt of a written request to the Registration Chairs received by August 1, 2010. A $10.00 handling fee will be charged. No refunds will be made after August 1, 2010. There will be no refunds for ordered merchandise or for on-line registration fees.

HOOTs (Hoosiers Out On Tandems) is pleased to welcome you “Back Home Again in Indiana” for the 35th annual Midwest Tandem Rally (MTR 2010) September 3-6, 2010 in Shipshewana, IN. Conveniently located just off I-90 in the north central part of Indiana, Shipshewana is in the heart of Amish country, with gently rolling countryside and scenic farms.

There are optional rides on Friday and Monday. Three ride lengths will be offered on Saturday and Sunday. And plan to spend some shopping time at the famous Flea Market on Monday, September 6th, one of the largest in the nation!
