Brief Description

If you've ever thought about riding your bike to Tucson, here's your chance. Join us for the 11th J&P Tucson Tour from Scottsdale to Tucson and back. If you've never gone bike touring before, this is the perfect introductory tour. We ride for 4 days, about 60 mostly flat miles per day, stay in motels, and have a SAG vehicle carry our gear. The tour is during the 4 days of the President's Day weekend, from Friday, February 15 to Monday, February 18, 2013.

Be sure to get a ride to the start as there is no overnight parking allowed at Chaparral Park! Even better, ride from your home and meet up along the first day's route. Email the ride leader informing of the major cross streets near your home to arrange a rendezvous place and time!

We ride in a group the first day from the start to the lunch stop, but from then on, you are free to leave any time and ride at your own pace. Please have your luggage in the SAG vehicle by 8:30am each morning. This year's route is clockwise: Scottsdale - Florence - Tucson - Casa Grande – Scottsdale.

~ ~ ~ Mileage and Terrain ~ ~ ~

Day 1 is 66 miles from Scottsdale through the SE suburbs of Phoenix to Florence, with a lunch stop near Gateway Airport.

Day 2 is 64 miles from Florence, with a gentle 38-mile climb, then a 26-mile descent into Tucson.

Day 3 is ~60 flat miles from Tucson to Casa Grande, with a lunch stop at Picacho Peak.

Day 4 is ~58 flat miles from Casa Grande to Scottsdale or your home, with one small hill near Casa Grande.

SUPPORT: A SAG vehicle will be available to collect those suffering from physical or mechanical breakdowns.
