Description

The I Bike Sonoma County Century – presented by Whole Foods Market -- pairs fantastic food with some of the most beautiful routes in Sonoma County to create a memorable ride experience with something for everyone – from Century to family fun ride. Choose from 100, 66, 35, and 18-mile routes. All routes start and finish at Whole Foods Market Coddingtown in Santa Rosa.

Fee or Fundraise?

As a rider, you have the option to pay a flat registration fee – easy-peasy – and show up on ride day and pedal away.. Or, you may choose to pay a very low registration fee and become a fundraiser rider (read: Superhero). We are putting together some snazzy incentives to entice you to be a fundraiser. All ride proceeds benefit Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition’s work to promote and support healthy, active transportation and recreation.

Start Times

Century Route: Please check in between 6:00 am and 6:45 am. All Century riders please be on the road by7:00am. Metric Century Route: Please check in between 7:00 am and 7:45 am. All Metric Century riders please be on the road by 8:00 am. Easy Ride (35 miles): Please check in between 8:00 am and 8:45 am. All Easy Riders please be on the road by 9:00 am. Fun Ride (18 miles): Please check in between 9:00 and 9:45. All Fun Riders please be on the road by 10:00 am.

Family Fun Ride – 18 Miles

The Family Fun Ride is a perfect morning pedal for kids and families, and youth groups, and others who want a leisurely, pressure-free ride. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other organized groups can use the ride to complete requirements for cycling badges too! This route travels largely on trails to Whole Foods Market in Sebastopol.

18 Mile Fun Route Map

35 Miles

The 35 mile route is a gentle tour of West Sonoma County riding on beautiful rolling rural roads loved by the local cycling community. You will visit the Whole Foods Market on Yulupa Avenue as well as the Whole Foods Market in Sebastopol before returning to the Whole Foods Market in Coddingtown for the post ride festival.

Metric Century – 65 miles

The Metric Century is a fun and challenging ride looping through Bennett Valley, Petaluma and West County, returning to the Whole Foods Market in Coddingtown. You will visit the Whole Foods Market on Yulupa Avenue, Petaluma and Sebastopol.

Century Ride - 100 miles

The Century ride is the most challenging of our rides. The route will visit all 5 Whole Foods Markets in Sonoma County. The route will take you far into West County, touring the farming areas that put Sonoma County on the map. After leaving Santa Rosa you will head to the town of Sonoma, and through the fabulous Carneros wine country to Petaluma and Sebastopol. This tour offers the best of what Sonoma County has to offer – great scenery, challenging climbs, and a fun route.

Superhero

Fundraising is an easy way to enjoy the ride while helping to make a difference right here in Sonoma County. You have two choices – Fundraise $500 and ride for free, or Fundraise $250 and ride for a nominal amount. We have some fabulous incentive prizes to inspire you. But the best thing is that by electing to fundraise you are helping to make Sonoma County the safest, most accessible place – the BEST place – for everyone to ride a bike.

Superhero details

When you Fundraise for the ride, you have until June 22, 2013 to meet your fundraising goal. You may even turn in your donations the day of the ride and receive your Super Hero reward. If, however, you do not meet your goal by June 22, your credit card will be charged the balance due. It is so easy to fundraise for the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition. We have tips and suggestions and will help you along the way.

Start & Finish Location

START & FINISH is at the Coddingtown Whole Foods Market. Take 101 N/S, exit Guerneville Road and go west. Parking and check in is located on the south side of the mall – behind Whole Foods and JC Penney. The finish line and post ride festival will be held in the Whole Foods Market parking lot.

Finish Line Festival and Lunch

Whole Foods Market will be providing an excellent lunch for our participants from 12:30pm – 4:30pm. There will also be music, and many vendors and exhibitors. Beer will also be available for purchase after the ride (you must be 21 and have proof of ID)

Registered Riders Receive

Well stocked rest stops, individual course wrist band, very well-marked courses, mobile SAGs, mechanical support, route maps (cue sheets), lunch and Finish Party at the Whole Foods Market in Coddingtown Mall.

Safety

Helmets are mandatory. It is recommended each rider bring (2) water bottles, a tube, patch kit, tire levers, pump, a spare tire and warm clothing in layers that can be shed as the day warms up and carried with you. Do not leave clothing at SAG stops. NOTE: No personal support vehicles please. Headphones, Walkmans and iPods are forbidden by law. Please DO NOT urinate in public! Use the Port-A-Potties we provide at the rest stops.

This Is Not A Race!

PLEASE BE COURTEOUS OF LOCAL DRIVERS AND TRAFFIC AND YOU MUST OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. Be sure to come to a complete stop at all traffic signals and stop signs. Remember that bicyclists are required to ride as far to the right as practicable; that means it’s best to ride single file. OUR MISSION IS TO HOST A RIDE THAT REFLECTS POSITIVELY ON THE CYCLING COMMUNITY.

Note

Riders who violate vehicle code laws, ride unsafely, are discourteous, rude or dangerous to other riders (or law enforcement personnel) will not be allowed to enter future SCBC events and may be cited by law enforcement for vehicle code violations.

Pacelines

If you ride in a paceline, please alert other riders before passing them. Please understand that you assume all liabilities and risks for riding in a paceline. Please pass riders with at least two feet of clearance between you and the rider you pass on the right.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to work in a variety of places Saturday (registration, Energizer Stations, finish line). Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and lunch for helping out.
