Ride Information

Start Location: Yahoo Center Park in Santa Monica.

Route opens: 7:00 A.M. (Last rider must be on the road by 7:30 A.M.). Route closes at 3:00 PM.

About the event

This year's 8th Annual Camp Laurel Ride For AIDS will be taking place from Saturday October 9, 2010. Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be at Yahoo Center Park in Santa Monica. We are very excited to have wonderful participants interested in helping raise money to send children living with HIV and AIDS to Camp Laurel in 2011, where they can experience the wonders of childhood in a physically and emotionally safe environment filled with HOPE.

Camp Laurel’s mission is to provide educational and support programs to children, youth and families affected by or living with HIV/AIDS. Our vision is to empower children, youth and families affected by HIV and AID.

Route

This century and 1/2 century route travels down the beautiful scenic Pacific coastline. Starting and finishing at the Yahoo Center Park in Santa Monica California riders will travel a fully supported route, with bike tech help, Pit stops with food and drinks as well as on site EMT's.

Bike Riders

Bike Riders are required to fundraise a minimum of $250 dollars to participate in the Bike Ride. There will also be a non-refundable and non-transferable registration fee of $50.00.

Crew Members

The Crew is not required to raise funds to participate in the event however, fundraising is encouraged. There is no fee to register to become a Crew Member. Crew Members will receive a Camp Laurel Ride For AIDS Crew Shirt.

Logistics

Snacks, SAG stops, bike support, sweep vehicles and entertainment along the route will be provided. There are no third-party producers for this Ride. The staff of Camp Laurel, a large volunteer base, and former AIDS Ride participants are producing this event on a strictly volunteer basis.

The Camp Laurel AIDS Ride is a charity FUN RIDE event specifically to raise funds to send children and youth living with HIV and AIDS to Camp Laurel. The ride is a 30 mile, 50 mile and 100 mile route for beginner through experienced riders. It is a FUN ride. The route will travel south from Santa Monica California along the Pacific Coast and back. It is a not for profit event. We expect over 150 riders. Requirements:
HELMETS ARE MANDATORY
All participants must wear a properly fitted and adjusted ASTM-,ANSI-,CPSC- or SNELL certified and State regulated helmet while riding in this event.

Waiver/release must be signed and you must show your helmet at event registration check-in table. All roads will be open to regular vehicle traffic. Cyclists are responsible for obeying all traffic laws.
