The Laurel Foundation Ride for AIDS 10 is a one and two day fundraising ride to help raise funds to send children and youth affected by HIV and AIDS to The Laurel Foundation's programs in 2012.
This year marks the 10th year of The Laurel Foundations Ride for AIDS. To celebrate, we have decided to host both a one-day fun ride and a two-day anniversary ride. The date of the Ride is April 14-15. The two-day ride will start on April 14 in San Diego and travel north 165 miles up the beautiful Pacific Coast, stopping in Irvine on the first day. The second day of the ride will have two start points. One will start in Irvine (for those who began the ride in San Diego the day before) and the other starting in Santa Monica. Both rides will meet up in Redondo Beach and then travel back to the finish line in Santa Monica.
Details:
Two- Day Anniversary Ride:
Start: April 14, 2012 San Diego, CA
Anniversary Two Day Ride: will travel 85 miles north to Irvine on Saturday April 14, 2012. There will be an overnight stay in Irvine. Riders will be responsible to book their own room accomodation/food the night of April 14, 2012. It is recommended that riders stay in the DoubleTree Irvine from which the ride will end on April 14 and start on April 15. Registration for this ride is $75 with a minimum of $1,000 to be raised in donations. Riders Should be able to average 15 mph including stops. If not, you will be sagged to the finish after the first pit stop.
One-Day Fun Ride:
Start: April 15, 2012 Santa Monica, CA
25/50 Mile Fun Ride: will start on April 15, 2012 in Santa Monica. There will be a 25 and 50 mile route option. The ride will travel down the beautiful Pacific Coast through the beach cities and back. Registration for this ride is $50 with a minimum of $250 to be raised in donations.
The event (both Rides) are fully supported with Pit stops every 25 miles, bike techs, and sweep vehicles for your assistance. The ride ends with a closing ceremony celebrating the events success in raising funs to send children, youth and their families to The Laurel Foundations programs in 2012.
Registration fees will provide for all EMT and Sweep assistance, food and water, power bars, energy drinks on the ride etc. and then a big meal at Closing Ceremonies! Registration deadline is April 7, 2012 but we encourage riders to sign up early so they are able to fundraise. Both rides start at 7:00 A.M. Closing Ceremonies on April 15th will begin at 3:30 P.M.
*By registrating for this event, participants agree to raise a minimum of $250 (for the one-day ride) and $1,000 (for the 2-day ride). Donations must be reseved prior to April 7, 2012 whether rider participates/cancels as a registered bike rider, in The Laurel Foundation Ride for AIDS 10. If on April 7, 2012 (the day of the Ride), the rider has not raised this amount of funds The Laurel Foundation is authorized to charge participant Credit Card the remainder amount.
Event schedule and times
There are two routes you can choose from. One is a two day century event, which starts in San Dieog on April 14 and stops in Irvine CA for the night and then continues on April 15 to travel up the coast, ending in Santa Monica CA.
The second route/event starts on April 15, 2012 in Santa Monica and travels down the Pacific coast and back to Santa Monica. Route lengths are 25 and 50 miles. All rides start at 7 a.m.
