Additional Information
The Bridge Ride is an outdoor cycling ride and indoor spinning event at East Shore Athletic Club. The event will support the ECCO dental clinic and brings the entire community together to support our local charity.
East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) is an ecumenical organization dedicated to helping our neighbors in need and providing emergency disaster relief. ECCO serves residents mainly in the area east of the Cooper River and south of the Santee Basin but also serves the entire tri-county area (Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester) through cooperation with other organizations and agencies. ECCO provides emergency assistance for food, clothing, household furnishings, and financial needs. As well as, ongoing services including medical, dental, prescription drug assistance, education and counseling. All programs and services strive to guide clients toward self-sufficiency. ECCO's ministry of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" attempts to improve the quality of life in our community in a compassionate way that respects the dignity and worth of every person.
The Bridge Ride and Spin event is in support of our Dental Clinic. ECCO has a state of the art dental clinic with two part time staff people and 50 volunteer dentists, dental students, and hygeine students. The clinic has run the emergency extraction clinic for twenty years which serves people all over the state of South Carolina. While continuing the emergency services, the clinic also focuses now on preventative and restorative care to educate clients and give them the care and tools to maintain healthy teeth and gums and avoid extractions in the future. Not only is poor oral hygeine an inhibitor to moving forward with a career, but it is a main cause of heart disease and affects the overall health an well being of the body.
The Bridge Ride event joins cyclers and spinners to work together to help and support East Cooper Community Outreach through a partnership with East Shore Athletic Club.
