Additional Information

Welcome to the 18th Annual Laveen Country Challenge Bicycle Tour one of Arizona's finest cycling events. The ride has become a tradition in this fast growing community southwest of Phoenix. Many residents and community organizations come together to not only support and volunteer to make the tour enjoyable for all our riders but they host all of our riders for the best pit barbecue dinner south of the Rio Salado. We have three rides to accommodate recreational and competitive riders. The tour travels through the last vestiges of Phoenix farm land, dairies and rural country homes on paved roads.. With the back drop of South Mountain Park and the Estrella range it is almost a step back in time. You will be greeted by our friendly volunteers at each of our well stocked famous rest stops. From the traditional fruits and Gatorade to our home cooked cookies and breads that are delivered warm from the kitchens of local bakers. At the rest stops you can fill your belly or just chew the rag with our country folk. When you get back to Laveen School (where you started) you will be able to enjoy our famous pit barbecue dinner that the community has served up for 55 years. You will be a able to sit and enjoy live entertainment or stroll to isles of antique and country crafters. The children of Laveen are the benefactors of this event since the proceeds are distributed to youth programs in the community by the Laveen Lions Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Come out, bring out the family and have a full day of fun, exercise and plenty of eats. For further information call the ride line at 602.243.9403 or email us at countrychallenge@laveenlions.org or visit our web site www.lavenlions.org.
